A power transformer (transformer for short) is an electrical device used to change the voltage of alternating current. According to the principle of electromagnetic induction, it exchanges a certain level of AC voltage into another level of AC voltage to meet the needs of different loads. Therefore, the transformer occupies a very important position in the power system and the power supply system. The output voltage of the generator is usually 6.3KV, 10.5KV due to the limitation of the insulation level of the generator, and the maximum does not exceed 20KV. It is difficult to transmit electricity over long distances with such low voltages. Because when a certain power of electrical energy is transmitted, the lower the voltage, the greater the current, and most of the electrical energy may be consumed on the resistance of the transmission line. Therefore, only a step-up transformer can be used to increase the terminal voltage of the generator to tens of thousands of volts to hundreds of thousands of volts, in order to reduce the transmission current, reduce the energy loss on the transmission line without increasing the cross section of the wire to transmit the electric energy over a long distance. After the transmission line transmits tens of thousands of volts or hundreds of thousands of volts of high-voltage electric energy to the load area, the high voltage must be reduced to a low voltage suitable for the use of electrical equipment through a step-down transformer. For this reason, in the power supply and consumption system, a step-down transformer is required to convert the high voltage transmitted by the transmission line into various voltages of different levels to meet various complex needs.
